Frantsila was founded 40 years ago as a living example of how we can sustainably create wellness products from the natural world around us. Since the beginning, we’ve been dedicated to sustainable practices, but today we are reaching even further: our goal is to foster biodiversity and promote thriving ecosystems through regenerative organic farming.

As a family-owned business, we care deeply for both nature and people. Many of our employees have been with us for over 20 years, highlighting our commitment to long-term, healthy work relationships. The next generation of our family is continuing this tradition of stewardship, cultivating a respectful and sustainable connection with the land, while upholding responsible practices.

We recognize that we’re not perfect, and there are always areas where we can improve. At Frantsila, sustainability is a journey of continuous progress. Production and Energy Use

At Frantsila, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and this commitment extends to how we produce and power our operations. From utilizing renewable energy to implementing energy-efficient technologies, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint while enhancing the quality of our products.

  • Our factory and herb warehouse in Hämeenkyrö are powered by 100% renewable electricity.
  • We’ve upgraded our herb dryers to energy-efficient condensing systems.
  • We are committed to regenerative organic farming, which helps sequester carbon in the soil and enrich biodiversity.

Raw Materials and Product Development

Frantsila’s products are designed to benefit both people and the planet. All of our ingredients are renewable, plant-based, and we never use mineral oil-based substances.

  • We grow 20 different organic plants, such as calendula, yarrow, and nettle, on our certified organic fields in Hämeenkyrö.
  • Ingredients that we don’t grow ourselves are sourced from carefully selected suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, both in Finland and across Europe.
  • Each product is crafted to enhance health and well-being.

Packaging Materials and Recycling

Frantsila is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our packaging materials. We use recycled materials in our packaging, ensuring that all of it is fully recyclable.

  • Our hair care product bottles (without caps) are made from 100% recycled plastic.
  • Our salve aluminum tins contain 75% recycled material, while the aluminum tubes for our natural cosmetics use up to 95% recycled aluminum.
  • The inner coating of the aluminum tubes is BPA-free.
  • All of our packaging is fully recyclable.
  • Our cardboard boxes are FSC-certified, sourced from responsible and sustainable materials.
